How do I get more youtube hits?

It's people like chris crocker who are ruining it for us people who can't get views :(.

I think my most view count was like 16,000 and that was a music video..

All my short films and what not are under 30 views.. How can I get it out? I'm tagging them like crazy.

I suppose the tags have a lot to do with it but also how good or bad the piece is :).

Strangely enough the first short/music video I ever made (way before I knew much about editing and the whole post process) has 350,000+ views. Although it was a 'fan' type video.

Robbie, tell your friends to tell theirs. I can not think of many videos on there which are not famous by advertising. It is always word of mouth. And comment on others' videos and ask for folks (not in the video itself, rather by posting on popular videos of the like) to view your work, and if they like it, subscribe.

Some of the channels I subscribe to have thousands and thousands of other subscribers.
 
The real way to get more hits is to spread it virally, through bloggers/posting it in forums such as this. I'm planning to hire someone that will spend every friday night (the best time to post things if you are in PST) posting on blogs, forums, etc. so that the video will get initial exposure. That's where the "word of mouth" comes in. If it's only your own word of mouth, your hits will be minimal. If its the word of mouth of the couple thousand that initially saw the video, then you are in business.

Secondly, the title must be good/interesting/relevant, and the captured keyframe must be fantastic.

My friend got one million hits in a month through this method. It feels good to see people commenting on your piece in a myspace bulletin. Little things like that is what kept me going sometimes.

Pretty sure you need to have concise tags. If I just searched "guitar tapping" I can't find the video you made, but if that were your only tag, it would be on the front page.
