The GH1 with the new hack gets me an average of 38mbps and therefore way over the 5D or 7D quality.The wrapper doest take me long to convert to 24p thru Jes or neoscene.The images are stunning which I hadnt experience and seen before.Am now planning my Indie film with 2 GH1s.Everything said and done, shouldnt the GH1 now be declared king of the DSLR video? Kindly give me your thoughts.Thanks
 
Possibly. But my question is this. If the GH1 does exactly what you need it to do, then why is it important for you to have it declared king of the DSLRS?

I agree with Noel. The initial post does not seem to raise any useful question for discussion. It just looks to invite pointless declarations of superiority for one piece of gear or the other. I, for one, would be happy to forego that exercise.
 
well, its more of an affirmation if what i am doing is right.most of the films being mentioned done in dslr is always the 5D.Never did I hear about the GH1.I own a 5D myself .and if my images is telling me that these images are 30mbps more than the 5D and nobody seems to make a fuzz out of; i need to be reaffirmed...I might not see what other people are seeing? thats my argumentation!

The codec is not the image, and there is no affirmation for you.

First, the 5D and the GH1 shoot different codecs. Second, they have have different sized sensors. Third, they have different colors.

Both are good cameras, but have strengths in different areas. Why do you need an affirmation that one is "better" than the other. Shoot the one that best suits your subject. Simple as that.

Seems like you have a problem. No matter what mbps they hack the Gh1 too it will NEVER compare to the Canons in low light situation. The banding that happens with the GH1 in low light situations whether it's original or the hacked version is something I cannot deal with.

The Canons for shooting in Low Light which I constantly do is still the best HDSLR available.
 
well like I said I have also the canon cameras 5D and the 7D....so I will shoot with my 5D when it is low light and shoot with GH1 when its good lighting.All are in Prores422 anywayand will just manage color correction in the same timeline if needed.Thats the affirmation i needed! thanks guys. I knew i was entering an unchartered territory.
