Your Greatest Strength, Your Worst Weakness

We all have them, and we're all both proud and ashamed of them. I'll go first:

Greatest Strength:
Video Compression

Greatest Weakness: Lighting (mainly due to the difficulty to getting an opportunity to use many lights) or Writing.

Greatest Strength: Lighting

Greatest Weakness: Video Compression (mpegs, movs, codecs... it's all greek to me!) Grrr...

Funny how we're opposites.

Greatest strength: Writing/directing
Greatest weakness: Manual Camera operation. (knowing stops, critical focus, etc)

Strength: Camera operation/Sound editing (but that doesn't mean I'm great at it by any means)

Weakness: Blocking and finding a flow for opening/closing scenes. Combination of directorial and cinematography I guess. Also, writing which I am just piss poor at.

Greatest Strength: Camera operation
Biggest Weakness: Writing Dialogue (can never get it natural)

Greatest strength: Lighting, camera operation.
Greatest weakness: writing. I might be the worst writer on the planet.

strength: sense of humor
weakness: potato chips. and lack of self discipline. there may be a connection.

Does this basically mean story telling with light?
Or more literally actually highlighting or underscoring something that's not being said in the scene?

Here's the film student in me talking:

I do a little dialectical statement to figure out what's really going on in the scene to figure out where the character is emotionally while trying to stay on track with the theme of the story. I also identify the beats in a scene so I know how to play the camera moves. Then I think about what Carl Jung would say about subconscious motivations, etc.

Once you figure out the story on that level you can begin making informed decisions.

Sometimes the best advice I give to myself is to play the opposite just to get myself out of my own preconceptions.

Right now I'm prepping to shoot a very big heavy metal band. Do I go down the expected path or do I go somewhere new? The challenge is that I can't shoot this to please myself. I have to keep the label, the artist, the director, the publicist and about 100 other people happy.

Strength: Writing (I'm somewhat uncomfortable speculating on my own strengths, but I've been told by people who aren't my mother that I'm a good writer, and I think I have good enough taste and understanding of people to write the kind of scripts I write)

Weakness: Marketing/promotion. I have no idea how to sell things with posters, trailers, etc. I don't really know how to get my work out there, which is critical.

Picked two cause I couldn't settle on one.

Strength: Managing a crew and cinematography.
Weakness: Writing and producing.
