I´m planning on shooting a short experimental using a cell phone but don´t know what´s the best camera cell phone available in the market. What about SD cards?

Any advice?

thanks

Why would you use a cell phone as opposed to ruining your footage in post? Seems like it would be cheaper to buy a bottom of the line video camera than get a cell phone anyway.

Because it's there. Because it's experimental.

Now what about editing the footage from the phone? Is it going to look bad when played on TV or the big screen?

thanks

Cell phone video normally looks bad played back on a cell phone, so for the most part, yes, it would look bad when played back at larger resolution such as a television or a big screen theatrical presentation.

As far as I'm aware the Nokia N93 has the highest Video recording quality (they claim DVD level).

It looks "good enough" even when played back on a TV.

It records 640*480 at 30 FPS with decent lens.

This would be my recommendation.

I always hear people complaining about a 30 second limit on cel phone video recording. I have the Blackjack and it will record for as long as I have memory, and with a 2G mSD card in there you can go for quite a long time.

I dont know about comparable quality though. I cant find an online spec for video resolution.

wow.... try fitting that in your pocket

thanks everyone, I´ll check the Nokia n93, sound like the best in it´s kind.

cheers

I second the Nokia N93 motion. The N95 is nice, but just has more still picture resolution. The N93 actually produces some good quality videos.

Be sure to acquire a few tens of thousands of dollars' worth of cranes, steadicams, dollies, etc to get the smoothest possible tracking shots with your cell phone...

I was just working on editing a music video shot on a cell phone this afternoon -
not sure which model (I didn't shoot it) but looking at the footage in FCP .... you ready for these specs?

Resolution is 177x144
10 frames per second.

just doesn't get any better than that.
