The shots were good and moody, with nice use of color temp and lighting, and the editing was paced decently to the song though a little slow at times.

I liked the superimpositions, but you over did it sometimes, my suggestion would be to have some sort of layer where it's the characters faces in profile or something, show the peoples faces more it would help connect people to the video. Or at least something to give all the layers and supers a rest, it becomes a lot of work to watch all those numbers and stuff on top of soft focus shots, you need to cleanse the palate every once in awhile or everything tastes the same and you get bored and nauseous.

Also the earth at the end is lame, do something other than have it fade into a dot, something more poetic like insert a frame of an erect penis or a slomo of a girl playing in a puddle. I really liked the shot with the girl in bed with the stars and the gradual blow out, and the dude at the window them kissing and the flash of warm colors, and I don't know if I should tell you this but I freezed it and wanked off.

You did a good job other Directors need to see this film
Nice song too, yeah the girl in bed shot was by far Nice the way she open
her eyes..keep up the good work.
This was shot on a dvx 100b write ?

Yeah -- thanks for checking it out -- feel free to show it around. It hasn't been released yet but I would love more people to see it before its released in October. There are some small tweaks that will be made between now and then. Thanks again for your time and support with this project. You can see more info about the band here........

Garden State was an amazing film. Thanks for watching my video. Others I know have said there are too many overlays. This video is about the difference between reality and the unknown. I wanted to create different spaces with that over tone. I look forward to this release in October from "Orion". I'll keep everyone updated with its fully released. Thanks again for your time, I know its something we have less and less of everyday.

Great vid, you really have an eye for framing. Th e only thing that didn't float my boat (IMO), is the many layers of images you had going. After a while it became distracting, again that's my own ops, I showed it to a buddy and he liked it.

Keep up the good work

Entire video shot on DVX100? :) Well that makes me feel good to own one. I liked the video very much. I liked the moody shots, the hallway and the door (to me symbolic of death), the window with the layers... It all worked for me...

Maybe the one thing I would relook at are the white snow spots on beach scene, everything in the video is so soft (did you use promist lense on some of the shots?) but then the white spot seem very digital (hars and seemed to distract rather than add anotehr dimension)... Also maybe cut down on eth amount of squares towards the end.

the earth turning into a spot did not bother me but I am not sure I like the earth getting large square blocks in it before that point... Again, not organic enough for me...

You are getting awesome footage in low light condition with the camera, can you share some of your techniques?

PS: I have been a songwriter for many many (maaany) years and loved the song.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my work. I didn't use any filters during the shooting of this video. I'm using FCP 6.0 for editing. Many changes have taken place since posting the link. I look forward to showcasing the final video. After watching this cut over and over, I noticed many things (some big, same small) that I just dont like. Thanks again for all your comments and feedback.

thats correct -- they wanted to showcase the feeling of the song without any performance to get in the way. BTW this is not the final audio -- this was a demo mix for timing.
