Your favorite loglines ...

No, I wish that's my storyboard. It's my friend's drawing.

We'll see. If people actually like my movie, I'll churn out some special features. If not, well, who knows.

Yeah, anyone with a set of kids will tell you Scooby and the gang solved a spooky mystery on Zombie Island a couple of years ago. I've seen that one about three-hundred times.

Ditto. The few we've not bought (some classics I remember watching while growing up too), we've rented more than once for the kids. Yeah, sure ... for the KIDS! That's it.

My logline I thought was pretty okay. I thought it was a good description, I guess it just doesnt really grab anybody. O well...

Now, now, Brown Cow! Don't be down ... I loved 'em all. Just had to choose the ones that stood out the most. Trust me, they were all close seconds!

Question: Does anyone star, or make an appearance in their film?

Yep, of the four featured zombies, I'm the fourth & final one.

My voice makes an appearance, even though you can't actually see it, only hear it with your ears....

Then again, both of my brothers are in it, so if you can find a geneticist and a really good police sketch artist, you could probably render a decent likeness of me!

I am not in my film... 'cause I did it for the people!

Don't you just love all this new crap that's coming out everyday? I mean NOW I've got that many MORE reasons to watch... I almost wish I had a list like the one we all have waiting on our desks... but with a key on it that says who appears in their own film and stuff like that.

It's the BACKSTORY of the production that makes all of these interesting! If it weren't for that I wouldn't care about anything less then the single best film and that would be it.

By the way... don't feel bad if your film isn't getting noticed for some reason yet... I guess I'm too much of a blabbermouth for my plan of laying low to work out well.

Can't you read between the lines when I say I can't wait for the NEXT contest! Jeez I feel like the kid in the back of the class trying to hide behind the fat kid in front of me...

"And who can tell me the year that marked the start of the Spanish Inquisition?... Anyone?.............. Matthew?"

good hits

good hits

Here’s some that hit me in no particular order, and what they made me think right off. I didn’t read any user names when selecting this sample, I just read down the right column. There’s a lot of others that I liked too, but I have a cold and am going to bed.

Fbtravis “Rotten Bastards”
A cop, a chick and a guy with an eye patch shoot it out in the middle of a zombie holocaust.”
(No BS, gore with an attutude. Could be fun.)

Stabsteer “Sole Survivor”
Fresh out of supplies, a young couple must venture out into a world overrun with the living dead. But did they wear the right shoes?
(Can you say WTF? Hopefully it’s funny, sounds like it)

of course:
Trent “The Bargain”
FOR SALE: House with finished basement, quiet neighborhood, top-rated school system, $135,000. But there's a catch and it's chained up in the backyard.
(Premise. Hook. Clear. Funny.)

Colione “The Resurrection of Mr. Z”
A necklace that brings past memories also brings ... something else.
(something besides a toxic spill that causes this … magic?)

khmuse “Three Step Plan”
A young pizzeria employee embarks on a mission to find the ideal girlfriend.
(again humor and HTF do zombies figure into that … do the pepperonis conjoin and renimate as an undead pig?)

dpr19 “UZRAA”
UZRAA: United Zombie Removal Association of America. A newly restored promotional film from the 1950's.
(vintage zombie, in a Reefer Madness style? That’d be cool.)

Duffdaddy “Z.A.P.T - Zombies are people too.”
1998 the Zombie war ended - humanity won. The remaining zombies, now jobless, are forced to integrate - but finding work has never been so hard. Follow one mans quest to heed their moans for help,.. and make a buck or two in the process.
(Duff -- I gotta finish editing this Zombumentary I shot in April, It’s PC madness when zombies are the newest minority on campus replete with scholarships and tolerance of cultural behaviors such as dining on coeds in the cafeteria – no there’s no political message, just sillyness).

BIG PAW “Big Paw”
Zombie hookers from hell eat everything!
(nuff said)

Slimothy “Human Endeavor”
Government testing goes awry when man-eating war machines are unleashed.
(Different and want to see how he pulled this concept off on a presumed shoestring)

I am the reporter in mine...I think I can reveal this about my short, it was all improved ala This is Spinal Tap, A Might Wind (but not to that caliber). Just to specify that I think it is okay for me to put this, I did ask Barry to put that in the log line, he can back me on that.

He he he... I didn't realize we were going to be picking apart loglines. I would have worked harder on mine. LOL. I was actually surprised at 3am when I submitted it that I need to do something else creative. Ah well. next time my logline will rock.

Barry Abuse

Barry Abuse

If my film is any good it will be because the hook is “WTF is this guy doing?” Hard to write a log line without saying WTF he's doing and thereby diminishing the forwards (questions) that keep the viewer hooked.

I like the way my original logline will have resonance AFTER you view the film, but it just ain't sexy ... hmm ... I liked to blame it on my lack of sleep but the concept of my logline was born long before I grabbed that Webster’s dictionary at Kinko’s where I was uploading. Thought I was being clever ... but again … no pizzazz … damn!

If Barry hadn't said he might do some fiddlin' with the log lines I'd never have the balls to ask him to substitute my rewrite (considering what I've put him through thus far) but since he said he was ... I think I’ll PM him and ask if he’ll sub the following (if it’s not a huge deal). He may promptly get on a plane, fly to Texas, and kick me in the left nut, at which point I would say, “Thank you, sir, I deserved that,” and present the right one.

Anyway here’s my (currently unofficial) revised logline:

“A bolted door. Four walls. A shotgun. Sanctuary for the final standoff. But what are you more afraid of … what’s out there … or what’s in the shed?”

Same here. Mine's probably one of the ones Barry wants to rewrite

I hope mine is one he wants to rewrite in that he said the loglines don't do the films justice. Listening to everyone talk now makes me nervous...like I may be hiding my head in shame soon!!!! Pass the Tums.

I didn't mean to "pick apart". Just saying what it was about a few that made me interested in seeing there films.

Interested and going to see every damn one start to finish, but those loglines are just some that were effective to my warped brain.

No, I wasn't meaning you directly! I just meant that I didn't think when I summed up my movie in one sentence at 3am that there would be a thread about them!!!

Yeah, my problem was, I couldn't say much about the film without giving away the ending.

I should of put something along the lines of, "In this short film you will find the meaning of life and have the chance to win a 100 billion dollars! Watch it and you won't die!"

Yeah I submiited my movie before going on vacation and of course on the plane to Italy I came up with 10 better loglines. LOL. I guess my brain was fried at 3am from trying to piece together a movie. Go figure!!! :-)
