you were right

I ordered the cheapest dvx100b I could find... and waited, waited , waited and waited... no delivery, called to check up and come to find out it is an import model on a huge backorder.
How bad can a replica be? I'm not sure I want to find out.. so I went with the real deal... twice the price, but I hope its worth it.

I've said it before & I'll say it again... why would you spend that kind of money on something that you 'might' get?

Trust me, I understand the need to save money (hell, I'm a student that works for PBS... I know ALL ABOUT being broke!). But I kind of think of buying a camera in the same way that I think about buying a car-- it's a big decision & you're begging for trouble if you're looking at buying it from a shady deal because his advertised price was lowest.

Take the time, save your money & go somewhere respectable. It won't save you money, but it will save you a headache.

Welcome to the club! This camera is a decision that you will not regret!

Unless you thought buying this camera will give you magical film making powers and you're going to take over the world with Mini-Dv tapes and a copy of Premiere.

But if not welcome to a great learning experiece
