Background story:

Hi yesterday i did a good friend a favor and shoot 2 yoga passes. The the yoga passes is around 60-90 minutes (they try to keep it close to 60 for the shoot) and i have an 8g and a 16g p2 card wich give me 51 minute of 720p. I called another friend that have an hvx+firestore. The idea was to shoot the main camera pretty wide and record the nonstop and with the other camera follow the instructor more+ pictures of the class. Everything would have wordked out great if not the firestore had stoped recording serval in booth passes.

Question:
Is it usal that the firestore stop recording? I never bought one cauase i think they are pretty scary compared to p2 cards. My friend only did slow small pans so the cables should not be moving so much i think. Any suggestions of errors?

Also he said that the counter stopped and he had to restart the camera or if it was the firestore.


obs! most important question: In the firestore drive it is a one folder named with the days date and it contains alot of mxf files but i cant open them. What files is that? Audio?

If the Firestore stopped recording, it was probably due to a loose cable. It has been known to hang if it overheats or the drive is failing, but the problem you describe sounds like an intermittent connection.

Don't mess with the files and folders on the FS-100. You're looking at the contents before the ORGANIZE P2 function was used. Once you do that, you wind up with standard P2/MXF folders and files.
