YJ18x9B4 KRS (Sorry if this has been covered)

Has anyone tried the YJ18x9B4 KRS canon on the HPX? I know that people have said to shy away from the YJ series but I want to know from someone who has experience. I have this lens and would like to use it on a 500. Does it work well, look satisfactory at wide and telephoto or are there major image issues when using this lens?

Thanks in advance.

There is a lengthy discussion on SD lenses at the sticky on top of the HPX forum. The YJ series pops ups frequently, I would search and see what you get. I just bought a Fujinon Eagle lll A16x9 and would be curious of the same thing (I assume you are also looking to buy an HPX like me).

Thanks Mark. Yes I am looking to buy and I have poured over the SD lens thread. Most did not seem to like the YJ series but it did not seem like that was coming from experience using it on the 500. I'd love to hear from someone who has used it on the 500. My main concern is bettering the image I already get with a 200 and I am thinking the 2/3" sensor will help me a lot in that area.

I've got one of these lenses as well- it's the newest one I own. But they don't seem to be well-suited. I've got 2 older 2/3" J series canons and an A series Fujinon that I'm going to try, however.

I have a yj series canon and A series Fujinon that I have used with a betacam. They seem to be comprable.

This thread is where someone has tried a yj18x9 (the lens I've got) on a 500- and been disappointed. When I get the cam, I'll try it too!
I think it's also worth noting, as someone has above, that not all lenses with the same badged number are going to be the same. There are production differences, and these are not new lenses- they've had different lives!
My xj seems pretty good for sd. I've been trying the j8x6 out on the dxc35, and it's.... ok- pretty nice actually, for a battered old thing- without the extender. But not noticably sharper in sd than the xj. With the extender, it's soft no matter what I do.
Post script: Uli says he tried in on a "hpx". I guess that could be a 2000 or 3000. In context, I think he probably means the 500?!?
