Yet one more about capturing to laptop

Ok so i know that you can capture Dvpro hd to a laptop from the HVX. But does anyone know if DVrack can capture that format? After reading their site it seems they only support HDV.

If dvrack doesnt support it - then how do you capture to a laptop - what manages that process and can you monitor it on the laptop.

thanks
seth

They currently only have HDV support. They are working on adding full DVCPRO-HD support. They're pushing HDV because there are HDV cameras on the market now, so it makes sense. They hopefully will have DVCPRO-HD support added by the time the HVX comes out.

As for laptop capturing, you can use any NLE that supports DVCPRO-HD capture. That would include FCP and Avid Express HD, and there are also editors from Pinnacle and Canopus that support DVCPRO-HD but I don't know anything about their products.

Barry,

I can't believe you still have the patience to answer the same questions so often. You really are the man..

people really need to do research on their own sometimes...

But does anyone know if DVrack can capture that format? After reading their site it seems they only support HDV.

it would seem you answered your own question..

yeah no kidding. I bet barry has a spreadsheet open with a 100 answers he just cuts and pastes.

hmm - thanks for the advice loki - i actually spent a lot of time researching this answer and couldnt find a definitive one. Beleive me i do my research.

I have also found that some people on this board have info that the general public might not have - so i checked. There is a learning curve with this stuff

It amazes me that you take the time to respond as you did instead of just answering the question or ignoring it.

its all good, dont take it personal smelni, it happens to everyone.. its pretty hard to ask a unique question anymore.
