FS7: yet another mlut CINE IE 4K slog3 distortion correction question

Untill now I shoot Custom slog3, works fine. But I want to start using Cine IE. Would be great if:

- I can use 18-105 mm lens with (distortion correction on)
- I can shoot 4K
- Can have little waveform in viewfinder
- Can use a Mlut (for viewfinder)

It seems the camera needs all the processing power for distortion correction and 4K so using of a mlut isn't posible, I tried anyway and failed. Isn't this combination possible, or is it?

Or will it be possible after firmware update 3.0?

You can't use distortion correction in 4K because it would crop the image.

One can only hope the WFM monitor will work with mLUTs in v3. I see no reason why they haven't fixed this.
 
I do not believe that firmware 3.0 will do anything about distortion correction with the 18-105. I would still shoot that lens only HD. I do not believe you will be able to display simultaneous WFM and MLUT.

Now we skip the distortion correction, but keep 4K and Mlut, (and maybe waveform) or is that moonwalking too?

Anyone who has a solution for this problem? (with other hardware maybe?)

You're going to need an external monitor with Luts and waveform, such as the Smallhd 502 or the Odyssey 7Q.

Forget the distortion correction and use better lenses.

I'll wager the FS7 uses second grade ASICs and can't be clocked high enough to provide all the functions of the F5/F55 cameras.

The solution is to use an external monitor with LUT and Waveform, there's plenty to choose from.

That's what all the Sony fanboys said about the F5 not being able to record 4K internal, and then, as if by magic...
 
So these external monitors have the processing power the FS7 lacks? I wonder Sony will bring out its own more powerful viewfinder then. But now I will go shopping for a third party one.
Found a few on BHphotovideo. Will search this forum too.

Also - take a look at the Video Devices Pix E5 & E7... will give you lut w/ waveform, etc. and also can record 4k in ProRes - for less $ than the ext unit...
