Has anyone seen or even heard of the Sony HVR-A1U camera? I went into the Sony Store and saw an even smaller HDV camera than this one. How many do they have out there?
Yet another HDV Camera from Sony. The HVR- A1U
- Thread starter Beta

Looks like they're going to pass it off as a "pro" version of the HC1 which has been out for months.

Yeah.. the A1 has been announced for a long time now.. maybe even since NAB? .. we just bought 4 (yes 4!) at our school.. but only beacuse they where the best [palmsized] MiniDV camera we could find! [available imidiatly, with our budget] .. well and DVCAM too..
We would have got PDX10's but they have been discontinued (for the A1 repsumably..)
"what's the HDV logo on the side?" .. "oh yeah, we need to peel those off.."
A1 is to HC1 as Z1 is to FX1.
..Standard Sony policy, make the same basic camera but add in some pro features (XLR, DVCAM) and sell it at a higer price. (which does actually make sence.. you get to choose whcih options you want... How many of use would buy a HVX if they made a version that didn't have XLRs or 24p.. and cost a grand less?.. ok not most poepel here.. but in general, it makes sence.
