Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

hey hey,

i was really meaning buy new F3 screen, never used because you might get a screen that is scratched and be very upset -> like me

my first screen was a beattie screen that was new and i messed it up really bad, not able to even save it

then i got me a F2 nikon D, from florida, it was brand new and perfect, even tho it is a was a F2 it was good. i got some finger prints on it and tried to clean it but messed up because i used the wrong cleaner.

then i took another shot at the beattie, (what i am current using) and it was perfect. unforunately i cleaned it agin and it too got milky and cracked at the edges. but it could still be saved for my vibrating gg project.

then i bought me a F1 nikon D on ebay in good condition listing for 20 bucks, shipping and handling. I was very excited, but when it came, it was scrath near the edges. not satifisded. it may work in a vibrating gg, but how many adaptors do i need?

so there you have it. I almost have this project down pack, but now must fix my grind glass situation.

but there is good news tho, i just snagged me TWO, dos, 2, nikon F3 in brand new condition , never used for only 30 bucks. talking about luck. but seriously, how many adaptors will i make. in the end i will just get me another beattie and work with cotton gloves grinding.

ohh a question.
anybody know how to flip the image on the trv 900, i read that you can take out a screw and make a pressing thingy?

thanks for the rant,
*in a hurry, out of class, very tired writing sorry for the misspelling

Can you PLEASE sell the Nikon D to me?! I have been waiting for one to pop up forever and can't find one at all! Pleaseeeee? with cherries on top

I really don't know about that yet, considering i didn't even get it in the mail. but there is no use to have two. i might keep one and sell the other, but the price is something i will have to consider....

still thinking

Well, i'm totally open for the first slot of buying it if you'd like. but i must warn you im a starving high school student, so if its like way too much, ill have to pass ;)

haha you are a very lucky guy to have even one :)

Respond to this question in My Messages.

and yeah i won it with the highest bid:

so ince i ranked the highest, i paid the lowest bid amount (9.99) even though i placed the highes bid, and had first pick of the screen.

and as expected, i picked nikon f3 D type, the two that was avaiable - 9.99 * 2 + 12 for shipping, well you do the math

I have the same Asian spacer but it's a 72mm, looks like yours says 58mm

Mine are 72mm as well. The image was just for example. I didn't notice that the "58mm" was visible.

No, they're really light. I started to use a 55mm tube of this same brand, and they're really light. Sturdy enough for an adapter.

I'm haven't received mine yet. Should be a couple of days. That's good to hear ovjamaica. I was wondering how heavy they were.

This might be pages back, but I'm asking anyway... Did anybody ever find a place to by the AOL (or similar) cases? Thanks. Once I get the adapter finalized, I want to start testing different items for the GG.

I've tried finding the AOL cases (or something similar enough) locally but I've had no luck. I bought some of the TDK Cinema DVD's (they just look fancy, like with a film reel imprinted on the DVD) with clear cases but the case was too clear. I took the sample of the AOL case with me to Wal-mart and just started looking at every clear plastic I could find there. All of the storage bins and similar items were way too transparent. As a general test, I hold the item in question up to a light, or put my hand behind it. If I can see the actual light fixture or distinguish detail on my hand it is too transparent. It needs to be opaque enough that you can't see detail through it. Amazingly enough it does work well as a GG. There are supposedly places online that sells these things in bulk. I'll check around for some when finals are over (next week). If we could find a source for these it would definitely lower the cost for most DIYers.

Thanks for the info ovjamaica. There is a plastics warehouse close to my house. I will head over there at some point and see if I can find anything. I don't have an AOL case use use as a guide, so I will go off of your test. They are bound to have something.

I was reading your posts about searching a F3 Nikon Focusing screen type D...
Call your local stores and ask for it!
That's what I did for 3-4 stores and finally found one for 30 bucks! These guys had one screen in backstore and didn't really know the value of it! I picked it up the same day. Fastest than Ebay and no shipping cost!
CALL YOUR LOCAL STORE(S) F3 NIKON TYPE D FOCUSING SCREENS STILL EXISTS!!!
I'm starting the building process soon so I will post my progress news.
(And maybe a very clear and simple Guide with pics)

Can you tell me where you did find the focusing screen? I am from montreal so I can go there if they still have one

I also used a Nikon D screen and have finally been able to shoot some footage with it. Here's a short clip, just over 2 minutes. It's compressed as MPEG-4, so if anyone has trouble playing it let me know and I'll re-encode it. Couple of things first, the first shot is overexposed and not as sharp as it could be. There's also a few shots near the end where the sky is overexposed, so I'm not too worried about comments on that. Also, focus can be better on this but I broke my LCD screen last week and it hasn't been fixed yet. Pulling focus on the tiny viewfinder just doesn't cut it when your focal plane is so small. I'd love to hear any comments. Thanks everyone, for giving me the courage and info to create one of these.

Tobzila,
I picked it up at Henri Leclerc Camera. There are two of these in Quebec but I cannot garanty that they still have some. I bought the last nikon fd at one of these stores and I don't know if the other store still has fd's. Photo Presto at Quebec is a great place to call to. What I say is call everywhere, or send emails everywhere, don't buy on ebay too fast.

Congratulations on crossing the biggest hurtle in the DIY 35adapter process. Most of your footage looks really really good! Now it's just the refinement process. Cure the aberation blues (I sang those blues myself) by using a achromatic diopter (no asian close-ups), be aware of the dust issue (that 7" monitor will take care of that and the problem of the focus screen being lined up).

Nice Job!!!!
