This is a short film we shot last year for the IFC sponsored contest for the video game ASSASSIN'S CREED. Our film placed second in the contest. It received airplay on IFC and was packaged with Limited Edition versions of the video game. Kinda Cool. It's only 6 minutes. We shot it with an HVX.

Looks amazing. Could you please go over what type of equipment you used? Adapter, lenses and what you used for your handheld work. What kind of shoulder mount or whatever you used. Thanks.
 
Thanks for watching, Ksun. We used an HVX200 to shoot this. We had a Redrock micro available to us, but after testing, I didn't like the light loss. The lenses weren't the best and I felt like it would just slow us down. So, I did without. While I love what I see out of people on here using the redrock, I feel like with the proper lighting, acting, shots & sound, you really don't need it to tell the story. I shot all the handheld by hand. Although I currently use a spider brace shoulder mount i didn't have it on RETRIBUTION.
 
Awesome job! I think that was possibly one of the best shorts I've seen from this forum. Loved the lighting and the camera work and the fact that you didn't use a 35mm adapter. I wasn't a fan of the sound design so much, and IMO the editing could've been a little tighter, but otherwise, a fantastic effort. Who was the main character? I mean the name of the actor? He was really good.

Sound, etc

In regard to the sound-

We found out about the contest kinda late. So by the time we had it in the can my sound designer/composer had 3 days to do what he did. He's the first one to say it's far from his best work. But I think he did amazing work in 3 days. We wouldn't have even placed without him. To me, sound is 50% of any film. When i finish a project, all I see are my mistakes. Sound Design and music make me like the project again. :)
