MrBeaker - yeah, actually it's greenscreened with a digital painting background. In fact, the first wide shot of our singer standing on the rooftop is greenscreened also. While the interiors were all on location, all exteriors were keyed into heavily modified still backdrops or (for the night city shots) digital matte paintings.
Gary_McClurg - I hope to have a link to the video posted today sometime.
I imdediately caught on to the fact that the night grab was a greenscreen, not because the quality was lacking (it wasn't), but because I had to think about how I would have shot that segment.
Great job on the top clip being greenscreened; I didn't catch that at all. And people say DV can't do chroma key.
This looks like a very high-quality project; I am eager to see the video.
Yes, the last one is the best. But I also love the second one.
As for the video, it looks really great. I quite liked the shot of the orangy sky.
The song didn't please me that much. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't also great.
Yeah, it was one of those one man shows - concept, light, shoot, edit, post. Me, the singer / songwriter, the camera and lightkit. Oh yeah - and a cheapie boom box for playback.
I actually find it more fun this way, despite the amount of work. I'd prefer to bust my own butt rather than take the time to communicate to crews of people.
about the first shot.. yeah I thought that she looked a little unnatural there. she's too high up. was it really necessary to green screen that? I guess.. if you can get away with it.
Is there a chance you can make the clip downloadable? I kind of collect all the nice clips shot with the DVX (now the XL2 and the FX1 too). That would be a cool one to have on my collection.
