Yellowish

are you referring to a yellowish tint on the LCD or on the footage? I think eoshd did a blog entry in the last few days about making the gh2 look more "canon-y" and he referred to toning the yellows down a bit.

it's all personal preference, you need to tweak until you arrive at something that you find pleasing.

or shoot black and white! I actually quite like the black and white modes on the gh2.

In the footage, i have been tweaking with it, i tired to follow what was said in that blog but didn't see a real difference, not that i`m trying to get the GH2 to look like a Canon. I just want to tone down yellowish tones.

The dilemma is:

The GH2 has a very cool colour balance and white balance
It renders deep oranges and sunsets with a yellowy-green tint
But make it less yellow and you make the image less warm
Make it warmer and bluer and you get a pink tint to whites
The only solution I've found is to improve the reds and oranges and remove the greenish tint but maintain a slightly yellowish tint
I am trying Ian's tips at the moment... thanks

Is there any way to tone down the burnt yellowish look?

Can you post a couple of stills or even a MTS clip showing this yellow cast. You can use 'curves' if you NLE has that sort of feature, to remove 'yellow' by dropping Red and Green (as opposed to 'boosting' blue...).

I've had After Effects for a while, but just noticed that Color Finesse comes with it, but I've not tried using it...

I feel that dropping red & green makes the 'warm scarlet reds' issue on the GH2 worse. You have to maintain the red channel at all costs. The green channel is by far the most dominant, possibly due to the NMOS sensor architecture.

Update....
Just tried Ian's settings. Good news is that the blue slider all the way 8 or 9 notches over does indeed get rid of the yellow and doesn't give whites a blue tint. What this is doing is just reducing colour temperature balance of the JPEG.

But there is definitely still something odd about how the GH2 treats warm tones and oranges - with Ian's custom white balance in RAW stills mode the temperature slider starts all the way over to 'cool' to mimic the film mode - what if we want a warmer colour tone? Well - when you slide the RAW temperature balance to the middle of slider or warmer, the image goes yellowish again.

My guess is the whole camera is calibrated for Asian skin tones and it just doesn't do pinkish hues and warm tones without adding the yellowish tint. My girlfriend is Asian, maybe I should test it with here ahaha. Another theory is that the sensor is reacting to certain lights and picking up the yellow or greenish tint from those... Probably more likely.
