I entered the service mode to check my shutter count on the GH4 (instructions here: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/51019354). And now I think it's stuck in service mode since it still shows the "ROM BACKUP" option even after turning off / on the camera. Every time I shut my camera off now, it'll show a yellow triangle with an exclamation point instead of the usual "Lumix". The camera still seems to work fine though, so it's not necessarily a problem. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Edit: I've found the solution! This just drove me crazy, and I have to say I'm extremely disappointed in Panasonic support. I called them up and they really had no idea what I was talking about. I was doubtful they would even know how to check the shutter count (entering service mode) to begin with. And their live chat was really hard to reach, and when I explained my problem they would disconnect...
Anyways, I searched online and came across this post that explained the service mode: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?216575-Service-mode-research&p=2044288#post2044288
Even though the steps were for the GH1, it still worked. What I had to do was "re-initialize" the camera, which the post said to refer to page 13 of the service manual.
So I searched online for the GH1 service manual and found it here: http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresu...c-gh1&kategoria=fenykepezogep&kat2=schematics
And then roughly followed the steps since of course the GH4 is a bit different.
Instructions copy and pasted (slightly modified to be geared towards GH4)
Preparation
Insert the SD memory card which has a few photo data.
• Step 1.
Set the Drive mode lever to [ SINGLE ].
While keep pressing [ DISPLAY ] and [ AF/AE Lock ] buttons simultaneously, turn the Power on.
• Step 2.
Press the [PLAYBACK] button, then playback the picture.
Press [ AF/AE Lock ] and “[ UP ] of Cursor buttons” simultaneously, then turn the Power off.
• Step 3.
Set the mode dial to [ P ], and then turn the Power on.
• Step 4.
While keep pressing [ MENU/SET ] and “[ RIGHT ] of Cursor buttons” simultaneously, turn the Power off.
Then a screen should show up instead of turning off and for me, I had a "PP" option and there wasn't anything else I could select. You just hit right/menu to exit out of this and turn off the camera. And then done! It's fully reinitialized / reset so there's no more ROM BACKUP and no more yellow caution sign when turning the camera off.
