FAQ XVAC480 for F5 and F55 - any chance for FS7?

If these things are there unlock able in firmware - yep give them.

In still cameras even the cheap ones - in fact even phones - offer things like raw capture that were esoteric a few years ago.

while we are talking phones - it is worth considering that if the cameras went app based and basically had a sony phone stuck in them they would simply offer..
timecode
shot tagging
shake and location data
whatevrr people felt a desire to add

Can you do that stuff with the wifi app for the Sonys? I've only used the wifi setup for remote triggering on jib shots and the like, but from what I remember, it looked like it had a reasonably dense featureset.

I more meant the cameras having a touch screen rather than a random splat of buttons around the camera and on that touch screen a 2016 UI

I,d rather have the button TBH.. at least now there is beginning to be a sort standard for those with LCD displays .. Arri did it first.. Sony copied.. now the C700 has copied that too.. its one of the big differences between working with an fs7 and a f5.. you never really have to go into the menu,s at all now.. its all very easy and quick and logical .. except centre scan of course :)

yep the arri buttons seem kind of logical and touchscreen is useless with ones eye stuffed in a viewfinder.

but if you play with a DJI for instance playback is really simple as are changing all controls.

I cant use playback on a sony.

Certainly skipping to the middle of a long clip is useless

I know I keep on going on about them but the Red touchscreen is great. And you can lock it when you want. And there's also programmable buttons.

The Sony phone app for the action camera is very good. Better than the DJI or GoPro apps in my opinion. Would be nice if the FS7 one was as straightforward.

Yes I guess to have both options would be best anyway.. your comment made me think.. from pic,s of the C700.. it looks like the main menu K N O B.. is bottom right as you look on the Op side.. that will be useless for when you are looking in the VF.. and changing menu set ups.. could be wrong.. or its a classic engineer at the desk, whats easy just looking at the camera mistake..

Can XQD cards even handle the bit rates of XAVC 480?

Sony says the G series XQD cards are certified to handle everything the 5/55 can do and considering firmware v8 includes the new flavors of XAVC and support for the new v2 G series cards, I'd say yes. I just updated my 55 to v8, maybe if I get a chance tonight or tomorrow I'll test it and see, because I use XQD cards in the SxS adapters.
