FS7: XQD Cards

Hi folks, have been doing a bit more 4k recently so I'm looking to get some 128GB cards. I just wanted to clear some things up (tried a thread search but couldn't see all answers).

I've heard a few issues with the newer Lexar cards, and given they're so cheap now I'll go with the Sony cards. B&H lists both the M series cards ($149.95 R:440MB/s W:150MB/s) and G series cards ($169.95 R:440MB/s W:400MB/s). It looks like none of the cards comes with a reader anymore.

I already have the old Sony G series cards and the Lexar 1333x cards. I have the free readers that came with the Sony cards (which didn't work with the Lexars) and a couple of the Sony MRW-E80 card readers (which would read the older Lexars).

Basically I want to know what will work with what? If I get the new G series cards, do I need a new reader, or will the MRW-E80 readers work? Will the new G series cards work with the free readers that came with the older cards? Do the new Lexars work with this reader (in case I'm doing a multicam shoot & someone else has these cards)? If I need a new reader will this read my old cards...?

Also what's the go with the M series cards? Will they do all functions on the FS7?

Thanks.

Edit: Oh yeah & is there a minimum firmware for each of the cards? Although I think I'm up to date.

The E80 will work just not at the full speed of the cards.

Avoid the M cards Sony does not rate them for all fs7 shooting modes. Fools economy to buy them.

Firmware 4.0 is what you need for the newest G series cards.
