F5: XQD card speeds

I think Lexar are bringing out some faster ones is all. I doubt they'd discontinue a card just over the case.
@Ben: It looks like Lexar is indeed bringing out new cards... Have you (or anyone else) tried them? They are labelled 1333x.

So it sounds like you had no trouble with your current Lexars, right? Did they do 4k and all the way to 180 fps?
If so I guess it'd be safe to assume that the new Lexar 1333 should be fine? They are cheaper, and in stock.

Two buyers of the 1333x card have reviewed it on B & H and said it worked fine in the FS7. I have the two of the 64gb 1100x cards and they have worked great in all resolutions and frame rates.

I have 4 of the lexar 1333x cards with no issues so far. My only complaint is that 64gb gets eaten in a hurry in some modes. I bought a couple 128gb cards for the times I need longer recordings.

Lexars = $260 for two 64GB vs Sony $800 for 128GB... You could have 3 times the recording capacity with the Lexars and still save $20!

I could see if you absolutely have to hold as much as possible without changing cards, but with two slots can you just keep pulling the full card and have the FS7 go Slot A > Slot B > Slot A (w/ fresh card) > Slot B (with another fresh card)?

4k 60p and the 64 only lasts 10 minutes, and each card change risks jiggling the camera. Don't forget you have to push in the card, then pull it out. With the size of my hands I have some difficulty getting them out.

4k and 30p and you get 80 minutes with two 128 cards. For many events you never risk jiggling the camera.

True on the higher frame rate stuff + risk of camera jiggle. My shots are generally short when I'm doing slomo, but every situation is different.

But if you're making comparisons, don't compare a single 64gb (at 4K 60) against dual 12GB cards (at 4K 30). At a quick glance, I see "oh, 10 minutes vs 80 minutes!", when in reality, comparing apples to apples, you'd have 40min of 4K30 vs 80min of 4K 30. And 20 min of 60fps vs 40min on the dual 128GB. It would be nice if Lexar could be a $250 128GB card! I'd snatch a couple of those up.

True. And at certain shoots in makes more sense to swap out cards frequently, and safer too have a DIT backing them up as you go. That's why I have both. If lexar omes out with 128gb cards they will probably sell a ton.

And yes I have used the lexar cards for long takes at 180fps with no issues. Its an easier way to get interesting footage of wild animals.

That's what is kind of odd. All cards seem to work fine with my Lexar card reader, but only the Sony G cards work with the card reader that comes with the Sony G card, even though they are both USB.

Sony G-Series Ready Works Only with G-Series Cards QDG128A/J & QDG64Q/J

Sony G-Series Ready Works Only with G-Series Cards QDG128A/J & QDG64Q/J

Sony confirmed that the G-Series Reader supplied with the QDG128A/J and QDG64A/J is dedicated to G Series cards only that have the USB mark.

Cards without the USB mark do not work in the G-Series Dedicated Reader:
H Series
S Series
N Series
Lexar

The Sony MRW-E80/BC1 Reader $39 is what you need if you plan on using the slower H, N, S, or Lexar XQD cards.

Sony G-Series Reader works with only G-Series Cards or Cards mark with USB on the Card Texas Med.jpg
