I thought I would share some of the features in Xpress Pro 5.0 that are of interest to DVXusers...
You no longer need a Mojo to outut to DV from a 23.976 project type. You get real time effects and on the fly 2:3 insertion during playback.
The Mojo will allow for more real time effects since it relieves the CPU of processing cycles for DV encoding and 2:3 insertion. But you should be able to get real time 2:3, color correction, graphics and dissolves for a couple of video streams.
Also, with a Mojo, you will be able to capture NORMAL pulldown over analog as DV25 or DV50 resolutions.
Then there is DV50 native capture and output over FireWire as well as DVCPRO 100 for 720p/60. 720p/23.976 will be in the next release.
You have always had the feature of capturing 30p (video only) into a 23.976 project type to create a nice 25% slomo. Great for handheld tracking shots etc.
There's more in this release as you can see from the Avid.com site, but I thought I would point out the cooler 24p features... This release is Windows XP only (SP2) with a Mac release planned for a 2005 release.
There will be more news for the indy filmmaker at the Sundance Film Festival, so stay tuned. I will be there for the week, if you're gonna be there too, stop by the Digtial Center, say hi and have a hot latte (there's a Starbucks stand next to the Avid stand...)!
