XP P2 Driver & Wacky Panasonic

Since the Duel-Adapter drivers seem to have settled down, I'm finally getting around to getting this setup.

On Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro, I have the Duel Adapter recognized. When I insert a card, it finds a "Panasonic P2 Card"

Now it claims I don't have a driver for this. Perhaps I just didn't understand how to install the driver. I used the link off of the Duel support page and tried
using that. It gives me a bunch of checkboxes of drivers that I could install.
OK, so I try the HVX200 USB driver first. It requires me to fish around for a USB 2.0 cable :undecided. but I dutifully complete this step. Try everything again and it appears that didn't install the P2 driver. No big surprise. But what choice to install? My choices are:
AJ-PCD10(P2 drive) USB Driver
AJ-PCS060(P2 store) USB Driver
AJ-PCD20(P2 drive) USB Driver
AJ-PCD20(P2 drive) 1394 Driver
and a bunch of other cams and decks (all USB drivers). No cardbus driver.

I tried several but it wants me to hook up that device to proceed. Frustrating. :badputer:

I tried using my original P2 Disk with the older drivers and that did not work any better.

I have done a search on these forums and couldn't find the answer.

I tried to let Windows proceed with its "Found New Hardware" and it appears
it is looking for p2cata.sys which is nowhere to be found.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks for your suggestions and tips.

I called Duel with the same question on the 30th. They have escalated it to their next level of tech support, but still no response yet.

Does someone want to be a hero and see if you can find p2cata.sys on your Windows install?

Fixed!

OK. Sergio at Duel System Adapters helped me out. It turns out that the driver
provided by the link on their support page doesn't help (P2\pcdriver_winvista).
The drivers listed require the device to be plugged in, but that appears to be the
cart before the horse. Instead, plug in the P2 card and let Windows recognize
the new Mass Storage Controller. Don't let it automaticlly update, rather specify
the location of the P2 Viewer under C:\Program Files\Panasonic P2\Card\Driver\WinXP. I overwrite my "newer" drivers, so it might be interesting to
see what happens if they were left alone.

Anyway, after a reboot I was good to go.

Many thanks for Duel tech support for their help in solving this and specifically Sergio.

P.S. Sergio said that the guts of the adapter signal like USB, so a USB driver was
not totally off base. I was expecting PCMCIA or Cardbus.

I just posted a similar problem in the 'technical' section of the HVX200 forum.

This solution worked for me as well with one difference....When I go to the device manager to force install the drivers for the "mass storage controller" like you mention... I didnt have a \Driver\WinXP folder at that location,
so when it asked for where to look for the drivers, I pointed it to:
C:\Program Files\Panasonic P2\Drivers\Card and installed from there.
The guy I talked to at DuelAdapter didn't know any of this info, hopefully they'll spread the word as well.

Thanks Chaka and Sergio at DuelAdapters!
