Folks - I've done my due diligence with researching, but still coming up short on a clear answer...
QUESTION: do I need to import the XML files that are sitting next my MP4s when ingesting footage from A7Sii, A7Rii, RX10ii, RX100iv. I shoot in XAVC-S, 4K, usually S-Log2. If the Answer is YES then could someone elaborate for what purpose and also what's the best way to ingest those files together when importing via Premier Pro?
Reason I'm confused is that even if I don't import any sidecar files and only copy the MP4 clips, I can still see all of the details (down to the frame rate, bit rate, even camera model and serial number!) when looking at the files in something like Sony Catalyst Browse or Prepare. Does Sony already bake all of the same XML data into the MP4 wrapper?
Thank you!
Alex
