XLR release tab...

Somewhere on a shoot, the small XLR cable release tab on my EVA disappeared, with the cable now locked in place. Before I either start digging around with a screwdriver to release it (not a good option) or return the camera to Panasonic for a replacement, does anyone have any good suggestions??
 
If it's under warranty, it definitely needs to go to Panasonic, even if you do get the connector out yourself, because it needs to be repaired, regardless. I don't recall ever seeing an XLR release tab break off or otherwise just fall off of a camera before in 20+ years. And I've seen my share of cameras that were 'used & abused'.
 
Yes, what the fudge is the world coming to when an XLR fails? Everyone is shaving pennies off every assembly until nothing works.
 
Thanks for comments - Panasonic Service Support it is!! Lets hope it takes less time than the "old" Panasonic support...
