XLR input on HPX170 has a bad connection?

The Channel 2 input is giving me some problems. Everything is set to microphone in. When I connect an xlr cable to the input it sounds like static. If i wiggle the connector around a little and take it in and out sometimes it will go away. It does this with every cable I've tried so I'm pretty sure its something in the camera. Any one else ever have a similar problem or an idea of what could be going on here? thanks for any help!

Thats what I'm thinking too. The only problem is that it doesn't do it all the time. It comes and goes and mostly comes when I'm shooting something important and not when Im doing camera tests.

I also noticed that it only does it when the phantom power is turned on. I have a shotgun mic that only works on phantom power and that is when I've been hearing it.

Assuming you have tried a couple of different XLR cables to rule out a faulty cable,
and you still get the "intermittent static" in input 2, I'd do as Jason suggested
and send it in for service.

If you submitted your registration form, you have a
5 year warranty and I would think this problem would be covered under it.

thanks for the input. I'm gathering all my info to send this sucker in. Just have to make sure I do it in between jobs.
