XLR cap

Hey guys and gals,

Recently lent a camera to a friend who accidently lost one of the small black XLR caps that goes to my DVX100a. Could anyone recommend where I can find a replacement cap? Any help would be much appreciated!

do those really even need to stay on?

i have been in a number of recording studios full of non caped xlr inputs for recording boards and such.

i mean, i have them on mine but i doubt much difference would be made if i had them on ( unless i put it close to a wet source, but wtf would i do that with a billion dollar camera? )

it took me weeks, but i found it

Panasonic was not much help, sadly, as they did not recognize the model number (they actually said it was a Sony camera). Eventually I got the number for Panasonic parts through another company. If I could recall their name, I would, as they were most helpful.

The end result was that the number to call was 1-800-332-5368. You give them the full model number and the specific part. It helps if you have a manual (http://www.temple.edu/fma/referencelibrary/manuals/DVX100aManual.pdf) to find the part as the people on the other end are none to helpful.

Long story short, it was part 41 on page 14 of the manual. Armed with this information, they located the part ("XLR input cap", as I had been telling them) and from there it was smooth sailing.

Hope this helps anybody in the future.

Yes

I'm sticking your post !

I failed to mention the cost. Sorry. Each cap was around $12 or $13. I bought two and, after tax + shipping, it was something like $32.

first thing I did when I got my DVX more than a year back, was to tie the caps with fishing line to the handle strap so as not to lose'em

thats an awesome idea. but too bad mine have already been lost. i dont see myself spending $34 on some xlr caps tho. i keep my cam in a nice cushy place so i should be alright.
