XLR cables are "Low-Z", dont they match my DVX?

I bought a DVX and a Rode ntg2 mic to start out and learn my basics with. So I lost my head completely and went on ebay to buy some cheap (and I mean cheeeeaaap) XLR cables. They say "Low Z" on the side.
My first mistake was to buy cheap... i can hear the reprimands already :crybaby:
My next mistake was probably buying ebay, but I am going to reckognize that these technical aspects are beyond me; did I buy the wrong cables? Or am I not turning something on in the camera? The rode ntg2 is phantom power as well as battery powered, but does it need a battery just for the hell of it?:furious3:
Anyway, at the end of the day i'd like to get better cables anyway, what should I get though guys?
:)

Wow, this is why I love this place. it's like my own personal film school where i can ask some really stupid questions and not be judged. Thank you Horse, I swear i'll read the instruction manual today.
