XLR Cable Questions.

I have a question. I just received my boom pole (Gitzo), but my XLR cables are too big to fit through the inside of the pole. This may be a stupid question, but did I get the wrong size cables or what???

No, they are the right size. You need to break out the soldering gun.

Unscrew the cap on the back of one of the XLR connectors. Solder the 3 wire connection to disconnect, push the cable thru the pole and then resolder after it is thru. Make sure you have the right gender end on the correct side of the pole.

Best of luck

Thanks for the info., but I don't know, maybe I'm a dumb ass, but I tried to screw off the cap and I couldn't. I guess maybe at the time I wasn't sure it was supposed to come off, so I guess I should have tried harder. I don't understand what you mean by soldering. Can you explain that a little better?

Thanks for helping out.

Solder - n : an alloy (usually of lead and tin) used when melted to join two metal surfaces
v : join or fuse with solder; "solder these two pipes together"

This brand of connector is easy to work with since it can be taken apart without any tools:

This brand of connector is difficult to work with;requires a screwdriver to take it apart:
