XLR Audio Recording Question

First I am REALLY new to recording audio... at least good audio. I currently have the AG-MC100G mic hooked up to my AF100 XLR Channel 1. I am aware the debate for the best onboard mics on this forum is a very spirited and an ongoing discussion.

I have not been able to figure out if I can use one XLR channel to record to both L&R? If the AF100 has that capability could anyone be so kind as to describe how to set the recording to do so?

I have a Zoom H4N which has that option. I currently use FCP and know I can duplicate the track and pair it in editing but it would be nice to not have to do that.

Thanks

yes you can. plug the mic into channel two, then under the lcd flip the ch1 sel and ch 2 sel switches to input 2. the audio levels for each channel are still adjusted separately, this is super useful when you have someone who talks quietly and loudly, you can set one channel lower than the other to protect you for the loud moments.

Wow that was fast! THANK YOU very much...

Reycer,

The best part about going to both channels is the ability to set one high and one low so you are always covered when in a pinch.
