xl2 tape in DVX 100A

Hi everybody,
I shot with a XL2 and DVX100A and I'm using my DVX100A as a deck for editing - but the tape recorded by the XL2 doesn't work properly - sound breaks off and other little errors, so FCP won't read it onto the hard drive.
Is that common? What can I do? I have a deadline but no other DV deck.

bad idea to use your dvx as a deck.

Could have something to do with the native 16:9? I've heard of other people having problems with that.
