XDCAM transfer problem

I am fairly new to editing and have a problem with a few clips on XDCAM transfer software. What happened here?: the clips go:

335_4298_01.MP4
335_4299_01.MP4
335_4300.SMI
335_4301_01.MP4

Where did the .SMI clip from from? it wont play or transfer to FCP but does play in EXCAM EX clip browser. I just dont understand why the file is not still an .MP4, did I do something?

I am using a mac pro 2.26 quad and snow leopard and 2.1.0 XDCAM transfer software

I have a late 2008 MBP 15.4 intel.
Snow Leopard installed.
XDCam Transfer does not work properly with my computer.
Will not allow the thumbnails to display.
This is a know issue.
