F3: XDCAM Browser Requires Serial Number Now

So how do you use the new version with FCPro 7 if you don't have an old version. All I could find is the new Content Browser. This really messed me up the other day when I sent footage to a client so they could edit in Final Cut 7. They didn't have XDcam Browser or Transfer and I told them looks like it is now call Content Browser. After going back and forth, they couldn't get the footage into Final Cut so I had to convert all the files and send them a new disk. I have made the switch over to Premier CS6, while I still have Final Cut I am using XDcam Transfer which launches when you go to import Sony XDcam in Final Cut 7. I have read that XDcam Transfer is not supposed to work with the newer firmware version on my camera, but I don't seem to have a problem and don't want to change it, since I hardly use it anymore.
So how do you import the footage with the in Content Browser. Surely you don't have the convert it. I see there is a import to Final Cut option, but it is grayed out. It would be great to know so I can tell clients to correct way to do this.

Maybe I've missed something here but what does XDCAM browser anything had to do with FCP? When i'm ready to import my F3 clips I just import them directly from within FCP?

I'm pretty anal when it comes to installing software on my machines and don't recall installing any plugins.

I don't know, but I install the software that came with the camera, which included XDcam Transfer. I also had to download the newest XDcam driver at that time for Final Cut. The import Sony XDcam was grayed out until I downloaded the driver. Now when I go to import Sony Xdcam it brings up XDcam Transfer. Basically I just select the clip and hit import and it is done. It just launches the other program, for viewing I guess.

Are you on FCP 7 or FCP X? Because I remember a log and transfer plug in for FCP 7. That or a Cineform plugin to use the mp4 files directly.

I have no clue about FCP X though.

FCP7 I defiantly don't want to have to use log and transfer. There such be no need to transcode. I don't need to now with the Import> Sony XDcam it just unwraps the MP4, super quick. I really don't need it since I use Premier, but would like to be able to tell clients that edit their own stuff. I do a lot of corporate doc shooting that the client uses for other in-house video that I don't do.

I use PP, but many of my clients are still on FCP7.
You'll still need XDCam Browser to send to FCP7, correct?

I never used FCP so I don't know. PP is so superior these days so I see little reason to use anything else. Been on Avid for 14 years but think that is a sluggish program today. But honestly I mostly use the XDCAM files as a backup and shoot prores as often as I can.
