FS7: xdca fs7 fan noise?

I just finally got an XDCA-FS7 back for my FS7 and noticed that the camera is noisier with it than without. Sounds like a fan or something similar though I can't quite trace where its coming from. Is this normal?

Ummm, yeah the extension unit has a fan.

Yeah, it's normal. I sent my firt unit back as I tbought it was defective!

The documentation that came with mine mentioned that the fan is something you can expect to wear out and need replacement at some point. I'm mentioning this just in case you bought a used unit without the manual and it could have lots of time on it, causing it to be a little more noisy. The camera itself has a fan also, which can be controlled by a menu item I believe.

The extension unit fan is noticeably louder than the camera fan.

Does the camera and the ext unit have to both be on the latest version for it to work.. or work correctly anyway.. i.e. Cam v4 ..Ext v2

Nope. The camera has had a couple of updates since the last update to the XDCA. I think the latest update for the XDCA is V.2 where as the camera is on V.4.
