FS7: XDCA Extension Unit

Mitch, you're a star. Ignore my question on Twitter.

Will send send pics from Saudi - hope the operating temp is up to it!

Put a shade over the Odyssey7Q+ if you're afraid of the heat of that Saudi sun. It has no fan or vents to block, but a white t-shift couldn't hurt.

I hear you Morgan, I can't say I'm happy at the late change in gear, particularly as I like to travel light, but I'll be fine - as long as there's a Maplins nearby...

Definitely need a sunshade - the shoot's in Saudi!

Bloody Hell. How many of these do you think you can gaffa tape together?

At some point I might pick your brain about carnets and the like (I assume you're using one) because I have turned down every ME shoot offer in the end after countless horror stories of gear being impounded.

2.5 hours roll per day is indeed a tb - so you gonna be copying 2tb a night and downloading the xavc too to cover your ass so 2.5 tb

yiu could save some time by getting permission for the back up to be xavc -keeping you under the tb/day mark maybe

If you have to buy drives for backup anyway you might be better off just buying a load of the third party 7Q SSDs and keeping them all and not reusing them.

I was thinking the same thing. Can the o7q write to two cards at the same time for slower frame rates? Instant backup. That could be interesting.

On day four you will not hear but listen :)

Nah...

I know... ...we're going with standard ProRes 422. Which gives us around 3.5 hours 4K and nearly 17 hours per TB in HD @ 25fps.

Do you have crew?

Yep:-)

That's what I'm doing. Off to Maplins in a mo...

Ah, the fun and games of carnets... ...ask away anytime. And yes, you've got to be careful in the Mid East, and other places... ...I wasn't allowed in to Qatar earlier this year, which was a result, as we ended up going to Bangkok instead:-)
