I would have thought someone would have made a thread of this by now? I did a search and didn't see it anywhere.

I thought this was fake at first, but after doing some research my mind got blown away! The future of gaming is here! That's all I have to say.. well also I will be getting one when it releases!

The only dates I've read are end of this year or beginning of next year. But none are confirmed.

As a way to play video games, it could be quite interesting. I think playing some of these games would be exhausting. Think about playing Tony Hawk or a boxing game. Fight Night! 12 rounds, and you'd probably feel like your arms are going to fall off.

But, this is really interesting. Remember when Minority Report came out, and we saw Tom Cruise using some nifty hand motions to control his computer? It's happening right now. This is the next logical step after touch screens, isn't it?

I'm excited to see where this technology will be in the next 2-5 years.

I've been waiting for this since that kid in Back to the Future II first said, "You have to use your hands to play it?"

I think in about 8-10 years we'll see this technology move towards what I'm much more interested in which is sensation game play. It's fine if it can recognize your voice and see what your hand is doing, but until they put you in a suit where you can actually feel another person's hand in yours and get the sensation of getting punched, kicked or shot (within reason, obviously) and feel rocks or cold water beneath your feet (all of this using tech we have today but that hasn't yet be prescribed to gameplay) THEN we will have entered the next phase of gaming and it will be an astounding thing.

But this is a cool step in the right direction.

Bah, we used to have this when I was a kid, except it was called: "Going outside and playing with your friends." :)

LOL, yeah except last time I checked it wasn't acceptable to bash your friend over the head with a bat or take a chainsaw to his throat.

I do think there's a problem that will progress exponentially regarding children and their imaginations. When I was little, had I had Call of Duty I surely wouldn't have been in the backyard with my G.I. Joes creating entire scenarios in my head, giving all the little toys motivations and dialog. Now all of that is given to the kids and they just have to move their thumbs around.

Maybe, in about 20 years or so, we'll see imagination start to come back into children's lives when they are given the tools to actually create their video worlds and characters and motivations. I don't think you have to articulate a posable toy in order to distribute to it a persona. Giving a child the opprotunity to exist in a virtual world as a soldier or a dragon would be sufficient so long as it was up to them to create the views and textures -- outside of the normal grass and trees and buildings and dirt mounds that we had to draw from when we were kids.

Oooh. Think of the the possible psychological consequences of truly feeling as if you were in the middle of "Call of Duty 27". Each time you squeeze the virtual trigger, you can feel the heat coming from the muzzle flash, the blowback of the round firing and the casing kicking out. Your buddy steps on a landmind and his blood and guts realistically spray on your face and body. And every nazi that you choke the life out of takes a toll on your psyche. Suddenly you feel a warm, wet feeling in your chest. You look down, only to feel a burning hot pain, and see that you've been shot through the chest.

Spooky. How real is too real? Hmmm. I feel like this may have already been a movie at some point.

At first when i saw this, I was like, "No ... freaking ... way." But the more i thik about it, the more I realize I won't last. Imagine games like Halo, and try crouch jumping. You're going to have to be in some crazy shape to get this to work. Although, the whole interactive / voice recognition thing is pretty amazing. It might step up the vocals and the like on things like Rock Band where people just hum into the mic. This might actually see who IS good.
