SHORT: X-Men: The Pawn

Pre-production underway on an X-men fan film.

The 16 page script centers around the character Bishop. It's set primarily in his dystopian future during the "lost time" when he had quit the XSE to work for (a now ancient) Gambit.

I'm going to be tracking this from start to finish here on DVX. There's going to be lots of gun modding, steampunk flair, miniature and matte painting work as well as partial prosthetics. I'm staying clear of any CGI 3D work, but I'm hoping to still deliver a solid product.

Total est. budget is $2,800

I just set up a facebook fan page that I think will provide a little something extra for even after the film is released while giving me the completely general "X-men Fan Films" moniker to help promote it and build a small fan base. I didn't want to go the traditional route of making a page for the short film as I thought that would have less chance of appealing to a broader audience.

I'm putting together the first teaser poster now. I also put together this logo for "XFF"

More to come!

Is it like a "copy" of "the x-men"?

Not sure what your question is. Do you mean "copy" in regards to it being a fan film?

Fan films are just non-profit (sometimes) original stories using characters from a known universe for purposes of showing a narrative reel.

In this case I'm using some fringe characters while creating some new ones to show one of the untold stories of what happened to (pre-Xmen) Bishop after he went on hiatus from the XSE and was working for Gambit (known in Bishop's dystopian future as "The Witness"). It's an aspect of Bishop's past that was never written on, and it was an opprotunity to use Bishop and Cable -- something that will probably never happen on the big screen, so it should be fun for fans of the characters.

Hope that answers your question?

Looking forward to seeing how this develops Brian.

Thanks!

We're doing some intense gun mods/design. That will be the next thing to get posted. Probably not full-on tutorials, but enough to help out other indies (or gun mod enthusiasts) to get started with their own futuristic gun designs.
