WWII War Epic - HVX/M2

Layers in editing to create more "action" then is really on the screen, overlap dialog with shots etc that maybe don't make logic but help the emotions. you want to tear at us with ups and downs, that is what makes a trailer tick...something that helps at times is going and watching trailers online, and then turn the audio off, and watch it, then turn the video off and listen...I learn so much from doing that!

Obin, ya, any suggestions on the music, i'm definitely all ears. As Daniel said, I pretty much knocked it out in one sitting so I'm sure there's LOTS of room for improvement, but I think it worked out pretty dang good. :)

Great lil' Trailer and looking forward to working with ya again!

cheers,

Thanks Justin!

If you guys have not heard his work you really, really need to check it out! It is very epic and cinematic...really has a big budget/"Hollywood" type of feel!

He also does amazing graphic design....I'm a little bit jealous. :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

The key is lots of layers and layers and lots of reverb and reverb. :)

Brandon,

Not sure what was going on... Sometimes MySpace goes down temporarily for various weird reasons!

I just checked it though and it seems to be up and running now...

Lata!

Really impressive - the only bit I didn't like was the simulation of the aircraft "flying" over the map (I felt that could have been done better) - oh and I'm not sure the camera's authentic at the beginning - but I'm splitting hairs.

Of course it was heavily compressed but the overall effect suggested it was a big money production.

I wish I could produce something like that.
Thanks for sharing it.

Andy

Thanks for the input!

Yeah...camera authenticity is "heavily questionable". :-D But that is one of those things you sometimes have to compromise on with an indie film budget/timeframe. Although I have learned that I really need to bring on a strong co-Producer from the very beginning so I don't get spread too thin. Next time...

What was it that didn't feel right about the plane/map shot? Did the map flyover feel weird or the plane movement? I would appreciate some specific input so I can evaluate how to make that shot/composite work better.

Thanks!

You notice it as well, huh? Why does that appear on so much m2 footage?

because we use cheap lenses. if you use expensive lenses it looks different.

It was the plane movement - just watched it again a few times and it's the movement that's wrong - too sudden.

The plane needs to be more level and to roll very slightly and move very gently up and down - just a tiny bit.

You need some movement but not that much or that quick - how about doing a slo-mo of it?

I should have mentioned the scene where the young guy throws the kitbag - his hair's a mile too long, and unless I'm mistaken, there's no way he'd be smoking that close to a military aircraft (maybe the USAF was different to ours but I doubt it).

I don't really feel qualified to criticise as the rest of it's so good though.

Well anyone remotely cynical will hate the title of the film!

BUT brilliant work looks great and i'm really thrilled that a historical ww2 film is being produced with the HVX. I am also hoping to start production on one in about two months (mine is set with the ruskies and germans!)

It's beautiful work and i think the VO - is okay! But yep more action etc perhaps in the trailer - looking great, and i hope you don't mind if i a pm u later!
