Dark Side of the Camera
Just came back from 5 days of shooting a WWII "Histotainment" Program.
Here is some quick grabs from the dailies timeline - no grading, straight of the camera.

95% 35mm f1.4 Samyang/Rokinon, the rest the 85mm f1.4 Samyang/Rokinon.
The 35mm became my favorite glass in the moment, it´s unbelievable, what it does for that money.

Is 35mm usually your favourite focal length for this type of work? Or is it just you love this lens so much? I'm just curious. If you could have the same quality of glass in any focal length (25, 40 etc) would you choose a different focal length?

looks really good! I'm not sure if i asked this already but how does the rokinon cut with your old nikons?

@Kyle McConaghy Yes, I used my "GlenColor" profiles, mostly the second one that allows for highlights to blow out if I let them.

@jambredz: they intercut very nice.

@Searcher: I have primes of the same quality in every focal length I need. But I found the 35mm on the Super35 sensor of the FS100 comes close to a 50mm FOV , which is pretty versatile.
A 28mm would be to obvious wide for my taste, the 85mm is often not wide enough, but a bit more intimidating - so I swapped between those two.

In a more controlled environment, I would change glass more often, than I did here.

Lookin really good

Will be updating my PP to your latest write!

I guess images like number 7 are unlit or are you modding the light somehow?

Do you shoot on any sunny days?

Nice work

Actually I only used daylight and the practicals that where there, like desk lamps and flashlights.
On the first two days I was lucky, cause it was raining or overcast. On the sunny days I did most of the interior shots.
For some scenes I had to wait till golden hour.

I did my very best with the stuff I had and improvised a lot, to get the lighting as good as possible.
Sometimes I used paper sheet or a tablecloth to brighten things a bit (forgot the reflector - duh!) - not too shabby for a one man show, I guess.

Good to know about that glass. I've been wanting to get those lenses myself.

Frank - have been using your GlenColor 1 PP and it has worked out quite well. Thanks for taking the time to craft them.

I love the skin tones there. This clips look great, and reading what you said about the lighting, the beauty of it speaks to your composition. Great frames!

Here is a little quick`n dirty teaser. Make sure you watch it in full res.
