WTF a good price in Canada?

Hey guys I was randomly on the henrys.com site and decided to look up the hvx. Now I don't know if this is a strictly boxing week sale or something but right now the hvx is $700 off!

Obviously it hasn't shipped yet but it looks like you can pre-order it for $6299.99CAD!

To show a comparison B&H lists the hvx at 5995.00 which xe.com tells me is 6995.90CAD.

That's 695.91CAD less!

I'm in ontario so with taxes an Hvx at henry's is 7244.98!

If I had the money right now or henry's offered some kind of financing option I'd do this in a second. But alas, I have spent all my money being the poor student I am.

But hey for anyone who is interested take a look because I swear henry's is known to have jacked up prices usually so I have no idea what's going on!

No I don't work for henry's I'm just a mind boggled man. When I was in highschool I applied though.....and didn't get hired. :angry:
 
Henry's is a reputable camera store. I have my HVX on order from them in Toronto, and am apparently second in line.

The reason for the price is that it's boxing week here in Canada (equivalent to post-thanksgiving for you americans). Seems that all cameras are 10% off or something. Now I just have to call and try to persuade them to give me $700 off! That's what I get for being an early adopter I guess...sheesh...
 
That's a great price.

It's even better for Canadians who live outside Ontario... 'cause you don't have to pay PST.

Did they say when they're getting the HVX in?
 
thats same as the pre-order price of Spec Comm.... $5399 (6,267.97CAD)... (except for the $500 deposit :)
 
Called earlier this week, they keep saying "sometime in January." Same as they told me when I put my order in back in November. Not sure if that would apply for new orders or not though...don't know how long the list is.
 
I called Merkle Camera... they said they'd match Henry's...

... but they said the cameras won't get into Canada until late (as in laaate) January.

The price is back up to 6999.99 now. It must have been a special. Too bad.

Henry's had the 100B for $3869 CDN last night and this morning back to $4299 CDN.

Merkle's on the other hand have the 100B for $3749 CDN and it's holding at that.

For now.

Geez. I wish I could get my pair of 100Bs now but I have to wait until March. Dang.

Thanks for the posts guys, I picked up my 1st 3CCD camera on Boxing day, DVX100b for $3869CAD at Henrys and saw the posts and went back to Henrys today and got a price adjustment! Henrys matched the $3749CAD. I saved $130 inclTX. Thanks DVXUSERs.
