WTB: Tripod Hard Case

Good suggestion.
Golf bag cases are a great option!I used a Datrek Hard Case Compact Travel Cover - Tomato
$109.99
And inside it my Sachtler in a soft Pelican tripod bag. It is bright red and the airlines treat it like its your clubs and you are on holiday, so less likely to be damaged. When you get to your destination pull out the soft bag and you are ready for run and gun. It will also hold a couple lightstands and a boompole.
The only issue is your ground transpotation needs to be able to handle the size.

Many Thanks. I just need to get on the plane and they won't let me take my tripod as a carry-on.

I have a hard golf case with wheels from Travalite. They have several different models with a variety of diameters and dividers. Since it's intended to double as a golf bag when traveling, the inside is lined and lightly padded. What I really like about them is that it can pass for a general purpose technical case if you bring it onsite. They're also very light - the Ultima model that I got is a 7.5" tube, 48" long that weighs just 5.6 pounds. They'll even make you a case without dividers if you like. Prices for the basic models from discount golf places vary from $75. - $135. depending on model. Check out www.travalite.com .

This is just what I need! I am about to go down to Florida for a documentary and my delima was trying to get my tripod and three light stands in one bag that isn't a luggage.

I was looking at the Datrek Hard Case Compact Travel Cover - Tomato but I saw a review that it feel apart easily. How is your case Brian? I admit, I want it cause its cute. :)

My question is also, do you get charged extra for golf bags automatically? I was reading on here the checked bag can't total like 62" and it would be that they add all the demensions of the bag up to get that number.

thanks

I found a softcase that fits my tripod, three light stands and softbox rods that I will place inside a larger checked luggage full of my clothes. I started a thread that is to show many cases in use by users on the board so people can get an idea about cases before they buy. I wished I could have a photo of someone using a hard golf case with their gear in it so I could see. I went to the golf store though and looked at the hard cases and they were just way to big for my liking. I couldn't see myself dragging a large suitcase, my Pelican 1510 and a nearly 5' golf case. :)
