Hi, I’m looking for a Redrock one man crew. If you have one just sitting around & want to turn into cash please let me know. Nice & cheap please :)

Howdy Christian,

I have an alternative motorized slider I built from components a few years back. Starting with a Kessler slider with the hand crank option, I built a mounting adapter to motorize it with components from Servo City. The control components have the ability to memorize a movement. First, create and record the movement you want including start-stop and variable speed through any amount of the track length. You can then replay the movement as often as you prefer. You don't need to memorize the movement, you can also just control the carriage position on a one time basis and not memorize. Presently, the slider has only one function controlling the slider carriage, but the controller has four channel ability. So potentially you could also control a gimbal or other functions, even focus. As an ex-machinist and hardware designer, I spent a fair bit of time making this work right and it can be easily converted back to a handcranker if preferred. It is very smooth running and can do very nice stops and starts with a little practice.

The slider comes in the factory case, and the drive unit comes in a small pelican case. It takes about 10 minutes to set up from scratch. With different luggage, you could leave it assembled and only need to mount it up. There are a couple of different speed servo motors with overlapping speed ranges giving the ability to go VERY slow to frighteningly fast. One thing that I didn't do was put limit switches on each end, so it is possible to crash the carriage, but those switches are readily available from Servo City. Any 12 power source will work and it presently has a 4 pin XLR for power in.

High hat not included

Price = $425 PayPal and shipping to CONUS included. If you don't like it or are unsatisfied, return it (on your dime) and I will refund your money.
