WTB Polarizer

Going to doing some scenes with the af100 shooting through car windshield and need to pick up an appropriate polarizer for my lenses.

I got a tokina 11-16mm which i believe is a 72mm thread and my nikon wides are all 52mm.

just browsing around bhphotovideo and there are a few different types/brands. Linear polarizer and circular polarizer.

What would you guys recommend?

what's the diff between linear/circular? I would like to change the angle of reflected light by spinning it, wouldn't that be just the circular? ( sounds like that to me hehe )

Circulars were designed for auto-metering cameras - they basically have an additional element stacked behind the integrated linear polarizer. A circular is no different from a linear in the resulting image - unless you're automatically exposing through the cameras through-the-lens metering system. It is a useless piece of kit for manual mode shooters. However, if you're a full-auto DSLR shooter, the quarter-wave plate that is stacked with the linear polarizer is going to allow the camera's sensors to accurately read what's coming through the lens. Clear as mud?

FWIW I've also found circular polarizers to have a more noticeable effect whereas linear polarizers have a smoother polarization effect. This could also be that the circular units I've used have more often been mid-level photo filters. When outside, my Tiffen pola is always the first stage in my matte box!
