So tell me, if you see something in a store that you don't feel like paying for, would you steal that too? What you wanting to do is simply stealing. That you don't want to pay the asking price is irrelevant. But I bet you already know that.
Besides, as aravance mentioned, the author of that series gives a 30% discount to DVXuser members.
After realizing what I was asking for I decided I'd only buy a used actual purchased set...
that isn't stealing or immorally wrong is it? I mean they sell pre-watched DVDs everywhere.
I'm actually not one to post something like I did, but absent-mindedly I said that without realizing what I was doing. I was actually thinking I could ask if I could borrow them from somebody and pay for shipping both ways, but I thought that was asking too much, so I decided to say, "I'll pay," which then makes it illegal.
Paying for someone to rip them for you onto DVD or send it to you with the intention of ripping/burning them makes it not okay. (that was in your original post before you edited it)
Just like how if I decided to rip and burn mine and sell them, it would not be cool.
It's a pretty generous discount. If you can't afford it, just start saving towards it with all that money you are making with your DVX/HVX. Either that, or beating up kids for their lunch money. I don't find that immorally wrong.
Sorry if I came on a little strong. As aravance said, buying a used copy is certainly OK. Borrowing a copy for someone and returning it is OK too. Once you make a copy of the DVDs as you originally proposed, it's not OK.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking I'd pay for shipping both ways like borrowing it. I just thought that most people wouldn't want to do that so I'd throw in some money for them. I just worded it wrong.
I'm typically the kind of person who would post something saying not to copy DVDs, etc.
