WTB Green screen with support system

I personally am not up on green screen, however everyone I talk to says to go with eefx.com because the screen is foam backed so it wont wrinkle.

Thats what I hear too which is why I am ordering from them. My last greenscreen was http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...026816__026_Super_Collapsible_Background.html and I personally do not recomend it. The thing was a nightmare when it came to wrinkles and it was a pain to setup.

EEFX greenscreens have been used in alot of movies such as Matrix. I am placing my order in about a week for a 10' x 14' I will let you know how it is when it arrives.

I'd second this on the wrinkles. You can key them out, but it's a pain. Find foam backed if possible, and store rolled not folded.

I bought a 12x24 green screen from Steve Kaeser photo lighting and payed around $225. It came with the background support. It isn't foam-backed but I really didn't have any problems with wrinkles. I didn't even have to gaff it down on the floor. I used a couple clamps to get the wrinkles out on the sides. It was very easy.

www.tubetape.com has 10x12 with support stands for $135+ tax and shipping.

Now if you're looking for something to do a few things on, then you're probably better off buying the materials and making your own. I'm sorry this just looks like a bed sheet with a few poles to hold it up.

I own a 20 x 15 greenscreen that has a velvet surface (about 5mm thick), basically no spill. It's really cheap to make your own, and for the poles any DJ/music store will have them. Oh and did I mention cheap...

We use the Steve Kaeser Chroma fabric too, and have ordered from them on several occasions. They are reliable and pretty quick with shipping.

That fabric is wrinkly as all heck, but yes, can be stretched. Also, if you light it right, keep your subject far enough away from background and use a good hair/shoulder light to separate your subject, you should be in biz with the Kaeser stuff. Also, try and keep hair frizz to a min- makes your life simpler when you key.

I have a eefx green screen and it's so much better than my old one(which was such a hassle to setup) and it really dose not wrinkle!

Many thanks

Many thanks

Thanks everyone. Your advice was great.

I'm thinking the foam backing sounds like the best solution, though transporting a 9x12 sheet rolled, not folded could be a bit of a pain.

Ah well. Such is the burden one must bear for art.

Best

Peter

P.S. I'll be posting this question in another forum, but since I have your attention, perhaps I can squeak it in. I've normally been shooting in default 60i mode, and I've been advised to shoot 30p for green screen. Any thoughts?

Hey guys... I'm looking to purchase the 10x14 greenscreen from eefx too for my upcoming film. The short will be shot entirely with green screen.

But, would you guys recommend buying or renting? I'm looking to buy one too, and rent it out to my friends at DVXuser. Just wanted to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck.

thoughts/ideers?

I would do whatever is most cost-effective.

You are right. Buying whatever is cost effective can come back and bite you in the tail. I would rather shoot it right, get the best key, and have the least amounts of production hassles so that I could have a successful post party in the vfx room.

Just wanted to see if anyone has used both the muslin screens and the eefx screens and if they have seen a noticeable difference between the two.

From what I've read and researched, I would go spend a little more money and go for the eefx, find some pony clamps and hang it up by some rope. (Of course you could spend the same amount of money for the muslin screen "And" get the support stands.)

Are there any reseller websites out on the world wide interweb?
