WTB: EZ Prompter

I'd like to buy the simple EZ Prompter (www.ezprompter.com) but $600 for a beam splitter and clip board is outrageous.

I like the fact that this is a quick and simple prompting method and can deal with it's limitations ... I only shoot quick standups with 30 secs of copy at most.

Is there anyone out there that has out grown their EZ prompter, and ready to upgrade to a real prompter, and wants to sell their's ?

I'd pay $250 for it, but not $600 ... For $600 bux -- I'd rather step up to a real LCD prompter ($799 from prompter people), pick up a $99 laptop and $59 prompter software from eBay. But then I'd have to power it up ... and have a prompter operator, it would be less portable etc. of course there are the advantages of a real prompter.

Any takers ?

Anyone have opinions on the EZ Prompter ... I'll be using it with the DVX

I do know that you have to import your copy into a graphics program to print out a mirror image --

-- Thanks,
Jay

I've used the EZ Prompter, and I bought the Prompter People prompter. For that price just get the Prompter People one. You can use it just like the EZ if you want -- print out your text backwards and lay it on the (non-powered-up) LCD. And when you want to, you can always use it as a "real" prompter too, something the EZ can't do. And in-between, you can use the monitor from the Prompter People prompter as a monitor for your DVX, including switchable 4:3 and 16:9, underscan and overscan, plus if you want to use a Micro35 or G35 the Prompter People LCD monitor would work to rotate the screen for you.

All in all, it's a way better deal than the EZ.

The EZ is bigger, I'll say that for it.

Thanks Barry, for your insight -- I think I'll just bite the bullet and save until I can pick up the one from Prompter People -- like you said there are many uses for it.

I'm working with amateur talent -- and having them trying to memorize/read from cue cards is getting ridiculous.

For now, I'm going to cannibilize an old school Qtv prompter from our studio that's used for spare parts ...
