Thank you for making all this information available. I just joined the forum as I have a DVX100a on the way. I need to get a mic for it. I will be interviewing people at motor sports events so BG noise can be a concern. Since I just bought the camera money is tight. I am looking at the AT857. Is this a good mic to start out with? I'd love to be able to just get an adapter and connect my ATR55 to the DVX100a but I am guessing that this being penny wise and pound foolish. Anyone have any mics that are either shotgun or hyper cardioid for sale?
