WTB: Custom LCD monitor enclosure

I am looking for an enclose for and LCD panel, this one to be exact:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=300301926317

I have bought this and I am researching my option to get a nice enclosure, I do not have the technical skills, tools and experience to build one myself.

Stating that for 500 dollars I can get an Ikan professional monitor, I do not expect quotes anywhere near that amount of money.

Upon investigation various people have stated that building an enclosure is not as easy as it seems, so I would not know how many $ to offer.
No need for fancy aesthetics, I was thinking plain sheet metal, maybe welded, maybe closed some other(cheaper) way. Some holes for the buttons, and a screwmount at the back.

State your price for the savvy DIY'ers here.

I can create a crude 3D model for prototyping is necessary.

So are you trying to build a custom monitor? It's a cool idea, but you could get a nice finished one that would be the same resolution and ready to go. You have a lot of other stuff to worry about other than just the case and lcd pane - you have an inverter and a controller card that you have to worry about too, along with internal wiring and power outside, not to mention programming a controller to make sure it's compatible with the panel.

It sounds like you aren't looking to spend a ton of money, I would suggest finding one with similar resolution under $200 (Ebay) and not wasting a bunch of money.

You may find someone selling a pre-owned one here in the marketplace too.

I already have a controller board fully programmed and the whole thing runs on 12V, so all I need is some batteries.
If you can point me to an 8"(or less) screen with at least 800x480 resolution with input board included and the thing runs on 12V, I would be very happy.

After a second search in this forum I may have found a good offer, but this post still stands.

Thanks.

Okay, well you didn't say that. Good luck. Take some pictures when you finish it and post it in the DIY section. :cheesy:
