Ash, not so. Panasonic lowered the msrp price to $700 but then recently announced they had stopped production. I'm not seeing these for sale new unless packaged with a camera. Used, there are a few only on Ebay where they are selling for $625-$695 currently, with more at the top end. Some people may have bought their 8GB for $1700 or more so I don't blame them for trying to get as much as the market will allow, otherwise they might as well keep it as a backup card. And the 16s are not readily available, and when they show up, they're often selling above msrp, so their price isn't as relevant as it would be if they were available.
I just bought four 8gb P2s for $2000 and a 16gb for $850. eBay prices for P2 cards are hit and miss, they fluctuate from great deals to 20% above MSRP.
Ash, you're right about the fluctuation but the trend is going up since Panasonic stopped production. I'm guessing you bought the used 8gbs in groups of two or as a four deal because otherwise I'm not seeing any ebay prices that low for just one 8gb card there.
Correct, let me also add that you cant just "get" a good deal, you have to search them out and work at it a little. Best deals are from rental houses looking to upgrade or having upgraded to bigger cards. They have already made 10X what the cards cost them so they usually sell them cheap.
