'Wrecked' - experimental short on HVX200 w/LEX

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is of any interest, but I thought I'd share a piece I just finished for my MA final in film production.

I'm just finishing up studying at the university of Canterbury in Kent (UK), where I shot this for just under a grand.

The shoot was 4 evenings in May, and having never worked with the letus or HVX before the time of shooting, it was a bit of a venture in to the unknown. Due to the size of the budget and nature of the shoot, testing was sort of off the cards - also because I had to rent the adaptor.

In the end it was the information on this site that got us through, so kudos to DVXUser.com :dankk2:

Shot at 720PN in 37fps with HVX200, Letus Extreme and a lone 50mm Canon FD prime had on ebay for £7.50 (we had a 24 and 85 sigma, but both developed problems , lol). We didn't really have access to outdoor lighting or a generator so was mostly shot with natural light during early evening.

Requires quicktime 7, its quite a big file.

or from the front page of watch film on shooting people...

Although there is lots wrong with the film, it attempts to experiment with the small entropic signs of remaining life in wrecked cars.

Very nice! You captured some beautiful images...having never used that equipment before. There were just a few focus issues I noticed & would have tweaked the audio a bit (I had to pull out the headphones and crank it to hear anything).

I really enjoyed this film...

Thanks for the kind comments bud :)

Focus was certainly an issue because we were rushing and also as we didn't have any money to hire a HD monitor. I think we probably pushed things a little bit too hard in low light, almost wide open on both lenses at points etc.

Our uni just invested a really super-fly HD auditorium, where the film looks great blown up, but HD certainly does draw attention to some of the little (and at times bigger) imperfections in the film.

Alex. That was beautifully composed and shot. Lot's of emotion.

I had the same audio issues as Zaza but the imagery totally makes up for it in my opinion. Well worth watching.

Keep up the excellent work.
