wow. MFT for the win. eos live mount for F3. dream for doc shooters.

There are workarounds and "workarounds"...
The one from MTF is a prototype as the one from Birger ( at NAB)... Until I see them selling and BEING IN STOCK, I'll stick with Nikon F mount.

I still think a ~900GBP product that lets you use all your canon glass is phenomenal for the doc shooter.

Unless you feel like paying $20,499.95 for a Angeniuex DP rouge zoom (and you'd need 2 of them to cover the range) vs a 24-105, or a 24-70 and a 70-200

There is no price yet!

Unless someone can send me a link..... how do you know how expensive it is ir isn't....

This is pretty ungrateful, the man works his ass off to bring a product to market, and without knowing anything other than "THE PROTOTYPE" has a seperate box, suddenly its too expensive.
Timur I'm pretty experienced in manufacturing. Also this is no rocket science. Just by the look of the components (lemo connector is $40 and the socket the same) plus all the other stuff (HW and SW) and assembly, R&D ROI it just makes no sense business wise unless you sell for $800- $1000. Or it could be a loss leader but for such a small company loss leader would make quick way to go under so I don't think they'll opt for it.
Hence I pronounce it vaporware. Time will tell how much of an expert I am- I don't have a problem with it. Maybe they know something I don't.....

Philip Bloom has a post on this too:

"(...) This is not the final product and there may be quite a few changes, but I have known Mike for some time and he said he should have it out within 3 months, being conservative, that feels like a pretty solid estimation to me. Price wise, he doesn’t know yet, he will make it as cheap as he can. (...) He expects it to support IS, he just has not had a chance to test it yet. He also hopes to make the box smaller."

or you can buy any flavor Nikon and use mechanical iris control.

Which I might have to do unfortunately.

While the Birger I want more as I want to control through the camera, at this point, even a knob that just changes the Fstop blindly would make me happy. Wish I had more time to just build a simple workaround myself. I've researched the control protocol somewhat. It's just building the pinouts to interface with the lens I really cannot do easily.

Agreed

I have a full range of very fast Nikon Ais mounted on an adaptimax to F3 , very happy with the set up, however as an owner of L glass and particularly the 24 105mm and 70-200 which are both IS
I am not shocked by the price but the thing that will make me buy one is the support of the IS . We have been spoiled with this feature for some years now .

I agree about the IS. I've been happy to go Nikon glass for everything on my F3 but the one thing that is noticeably missing is IS, I can tell how much steadier my old EX-1 footage is with steadishot. Wish someone could make this for the Nikon lenses as I'm not eager to be switching between nikon and Canon glass. Canon zoom lenses aren't parfocal as I recall which is a big drag.

A lot!
By the laws of optics, there is a reason why the iris is placed in a certain position relative to the rest of the optical elements and wise wersa.... Moving it just like that effects the results. In this case "iris" is totally "out of the lens"... This will cause degradation of the image it self, uncontrolled vignetting, etc... Don't believe it? Buy the adapter, and find out your self...

Haha, this! With all the headaches and heartaches I've seen EOS lens owners go through - I've always felt glad that my still cameras were Nikon, so I never had to deal with the 'what if?'s

Im a nikon man and less sure, it seems to me that canonites good get real use out of thier lenses on a motion cam while the dawn is not so close with G lenses

One suggestion to Mike Tapa:
take the power (AA) out of the control box (make it as small as possible), and have it powered by D-tap off camera's power...
